The Circle will live on, January 24, 2002
By Epiq
As you may have already heard by now, The Circle, the once fine and still
magnificent help guild, is shutting down its doors to any new members. This
was announced on the Circles website, after a long and hard decision was
made by Emerald Flame. Her reasoning was that the only new members now were
only joining so they can stand a better chance of being a Beekin. Also, she
says she doesn't recognise any of the faces in Sanctuary anymore, except for
a few old friends here and there.
This in fact was a long time coming. She herself aswell as many others had
spotted this day was approaching, but they always thought that they might be
able to stop this happening, and change it.
I myself am a member of The Circle, a very proud member, and I didn't join
it for any status I might have recieved. It's quite ironic, that I found out
about the Circle because of every Guardian I spoke to being a part of it,
and one giving me the address, telling me I should join. Of course, there
are rumours that all new Guardians are hand picked especially from The
Circle, but these rumours are complete codswallop =). The true story is that
when Furcadia was in its early years, a minimal of guilds were chartered,
Sanctuary being the only help guild. And this was where half the Furcadian
population stayed during their time on the virtual world. Felorin met some
incredible furres there, because he also hung around in Sanctuary. This
meant, that out of everywhere, the chances of the best volunteers at the
time, were bound to be in the Circle, as it was the only help guild known.
That's why =P
But as for the recent decision on whether to close it down, I think the
route they should take, is to let the guild close for a little while, and
then a surprise re-opening, so it will still be open to all newer members of
the Furcadian world. It would be a shame to let all the work that's gone
into Sanctuary from dedicated furres such as Emmie, Skirmish to name a
couple, the list goes on, go to waste.
But, until that day, if it ever happens, we may still have the map to enjoy,
maybe even have it as a permanent map.
